Is it what you see around you? Or is it something you have read about, and only understand dimly?
Do you theorize about it? Or never let it cross your mind at all?
Let me akd you one question:
If You don't know what it is, how do you hope to exist within it?
Think about it!

Depression: Project Reality!
Should I Tell you?
Promise you won't run screaming in terror?
Typically, there are two reactions in those with depression when faced with stark reality, either total unbelief, or outright rejection.
I hope you do neither. After spending 38 years of having my life controlled by totally inaccurate thought patterns, I am well aware of the destruction they can have on your life. And, that is all that depression is: total inaccuracy, a failure to view reality as it really is!
First, what we refer to as 'reality', is simply our own belief system, developed as a way to respond to this phenomenon we call Life. The human mind, while incredibly complex, cannot possibly comprehend reality in it's totality.
Everyone wants their nice safe belief system they have spent years developing, and have no room in their minds for things as they really are.
The only problem is, they keep finding themselves in situations that developed because of an unstable belief system. Life then becomes suffering, and dissatisfaction.
When you truly begin to understand Ultimate Reality, you realize there is nothing wrong with your life, you are not truly suffering, as a matter of fact, you do not even truly exist!
Two Realities
There are two realities for everyone:
- Conventional or Mundane Reality
- Ultimate Reality
Conventional Reality:
What we perceive, or think we perceive as we move through our daily lives.
How accurate is this? Well consider this definition of reality from Merriam Webster Online:
SO-- is our perception of things reality? Or is it in fact just a perception?I take the position that it is in fact, just a perception!Re·al·i·ty
Pronunciation:
\rē-ˈa-lə-tē\
Function: noun
Inflected
Form(s): plural re·al·i·ties
Date: 1550
1: the quality or state of being real 2 a (1): a real event, entity, or state of affairs(2): the totality of real things and events b: something that is neither
derivative nor dependent but exists necessarily 3: television programming that features videos of actual
occurrences (as a police chase, stunt, or natural disaster) —often used
attributively
— in reality
: in actual fact
The only reality is: we have a perception of something that is real!
What does this have to do with depression?
When we are depressed, we are sad and feel we have nothing to live for. We have an emotion we perceive as pain. We feel that no one understands or cares.
When we stand on the mountain and look down on the city, we say the mountain isSo which is reality? Neither. Both are just our perceptions.
'here', and the city is 'there'. But after we return home to the city, we
say the city is 'here', and the mountain is 'there'!
Ultimate Reality:
Things as they really are.
The closest we can get to Ultimate Reality might be to view it thus:
We live in a vast field of endless phenomena composed of Energy, and
Particles. This field is in constant motion, and it operates according to
certain 'rules' or 'laws' if you will. (The terms 'rules' and 'laws' are
just terms used to describe the observable behavior of energy, and particles,
and the way they interreact.)
Some of those 'laws' are:
- The law of Gravity
- The law of Mass
- the law of Motion
- the law of Attraction
- etc.
All these are just systems of thought used to describe what we can perceive about the phenomena around us.
This relates to depression in the following manner:- If it's bad now, take heart, it will change, because It's all in motion! Right down to the very subatomic particles that make up your body! What happens when something moves? The situations and circumstances around it are constantly changing.
- Because of the 'Law of Attraction', or the particular energy we are giving off, in a very real sense our 'reality' is determined, and driven by, ourselves! That means being depressed is creating more depression! Unless we are somehow enjoying all this, we have no choice but break free of depressive thought patterns!
- Positive and empowering thought patterns will change our energy, thereby attracting positive occurences in our lives.
Maybe this all sounds far-fetched, or too good to be true, but Quantum Physicists, and Therapists in the last several years have validated this many times!
Personally, I have never read "The Secret", but there are many other sources for the same material. In fact the Chinese Philosopher Lao Tzsu wrote about it 1500 years ago.
For more information, I highly reccomend reading the book "Quantum Success" by Sandra Anne Taylor. A counselor in private practice for more than 22 years, she was also educated in Quantum Physics. In "Quantum Success" she details how great shifts of energy can occur in a single moment, either in the universe at large, or in your own personal life!
In conclusion:
None of us need suffer from depression! There are techniques and strategies available, (I will detail some in future postings) that can turn your life around.
If you are seeing a Therapist or Counselor, are on medication and/or
treatment, by all means continue!! Just be aware that one way or another,
your thought patterns will have to change in order for your life to change.
Even if you do nothing, your life will still change. It will likely get worse! Everything is still in motion, Remember?
